3D PRINTING TECHNOLOGIES

Three Processes.
One Partner.

We operate FDM, SLS, and SLA printers in-house and match the right technology to your part — not just the one we happen to own. Send us your file and we’ll advise.

FDM
Fused Deposition Modeling
Strong · Cost-Effective · Fast

FDM builds parts layer by layer from thermoplastic filament — the most versatile 3D printing process for everyday engineering work. Wide material range, affordable, fast.

PLAPETGABS / ASANylon PA12TPUCarbon-fill PA
Typical tolerance± 0.3 mm
Max build300×300×400 mm
Best forPrototypes, jigs, enclosures
SLS
Selective Laser Sintering
Durable · Complex Geometry · No Supports

SLS fuses nylon powder with a laser — no support structures, ideal for complex geometry, snap-fits, and living hinges impossible with FDM. Production-grade nylon parts.

PA12 NylonPA11 NylonGlass-filledTPU Powder
Typical tolerance± 0.2 mm
Max build330×330×600 mm
Best forFunctional parts, assemblies
SLA
Stereolithography
Fine Detail · Smooth Surface · High Resolution

SLA resin printing delivers the finest surface detail and smoothest finish of any 3D printing process — ideal for visual models, master patterns, and fine-feature parts.

MADE IN MONTREAL

Why Local Manufacturing
Still Matters

Montreal is one of Canada’s strongest engineering cities — home to aerospace clusters, robotics research, and a dense network of hardware companies. 3DRM Tech is built into that ecosystem: close to our clients, familiar with their industries, and accountable in a way overseas vendors never can be.

When you order from overseas, you’re gambling on lead times, customs, and quality you can’t inspect remotely. When you order from 3DRM, you can drive to our shop, inspect your part in person, and talk to the person who made it.

We serve clients across Canada — Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary — with shipping that moves in days, not months. That speed advantage compounds across every prototype cycle.

  • No customs delays or import duties on domestic orders
  • Same-timezone communication — we respond during your workday
  • In-person part inspection available at our Montreal facility
  • Supports Canadian manufacturing supply chains
  • Rush orders feasible when overseas shipping isn’t

What 3D printing technologies do you offer?

We offer FDM, SLS, and SLA 3D printing — all in-house at our Montreal facility. We also offer CNC machining, CAD design, 3D scanning, composite fabrication, and low-volume production.

Which 3D printing process is right for my part?

FDM is best for strong, cost-effective parts. SLS for complex geometry and durable nylon end-use parts. SLA for fine detail and smooth surfaces. Not sure? Send us your file and we’ll advise.

How do I get a quote?

Send your CAD file (STL, STEP, SolidWorks, Fusion, or any format) and a description of your requirements. We respond with a process recommendation and itemized quote, usually within 24 hours. No file? Describe your part in words and we’ll work from there.

Can you help if I don’t have a CAD file?

Absolutely. Our CAD design service can take a sketch, photo, or description and produce a print-ready 3D model. For existing physical parts, our 3D scanning service captures the geometry and generates a model you own.

How fast can you turn around a part?

Most FDM and SLA parts ship in 2–5 business days. SLS is 5–7 days. CNC is 5–10 days. Rush options available on most processes. For time-critical projects, see our rapid prototyping service.

Do you do low-volume production, not just prototypes?

Yes — no minimums. We produce functional end-use parts and low-volume production runs of 10–several hundred units with consistent QC. Files stay on record for fast reorders.

Can you make carbon fiber parts?

Yes — composite fabrication is a key differentiator. We do carbon fiber wet layup, vacuum-bagged parts, and hybrid laminates in-house. See our Composites & Carbon Fiber service.

Can you reverse engineer a part with no drawings?

Yes. We scan the physical part, process the point cloud into a clean CAD model, and deliver a file you can manufacture from or improve. See our 3D scanning service.

Where are you located? Do you ship across Canada?

We’re in Montreal, Quebec, and ship to clients across Canada — Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, and beyond. In-person consultations welcome. Call +1 (514) 808-3260.

Do you review files before production?

Yes — always. We review every file for printability, wall thickness, and DFM issues before running anything. If we see a problem, we tell you before you pay.

What materials do you work with?

FDM: PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, Nylon, TPU, PC. SLS: PA12/PA11 nylon, glass-filled, TPU powder. SLA: standard, engineering, tough, flexible, castable resins. CNC: aluminum, steel, stainless, brass, titanium. Composites: carbon fiber, fiberglass, Kevlar, hybrid laminates.

What file formats do you accept?

STL, STEP, IGES, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino, OBJ, and most standard CAD formats. Non-standard formats — contact us.
